What are copyright claims?

Copyright claims occur when a platform's automated system detects music that it believes may be copyrighted in an uploaded video.

These systems are used by platforms to:

  • Scan uploaded content for protected audio
  • Identify potential copyright matches
  • Apply claims related to monetization, tracking, or usage

A claim does not necessarily mean you're using music incorrectly; it simply means the platform needs confirmation of your rights.

Can I use licensed Soundstripe music on social platforms?

Yes. Any properly licensed Soundstripe music can be used on supported social media platforms, including YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and others, as long as your use aligns with your plan's coverage and license terms.

Licensing gives you permission to use the music. Platform detection systems determine how copyright is enforced automatically.

How Content ID works

Content ID is YouTube's copyright detection system. It automatically scans uploaded videos to identify copyrighted audio and may place a claim on a video if a match is found.

Even with licensed music, a Content ID claim can happen due to automated detection. This is normal and easy to resolve with the right information.
