What Is Soundstripe LIVE and How Does It Work?

Soundstripe LIVE is a free Mac app that watches your editing timeline in Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or other editors, and suggests licensed music that fits your scene in real time. It's included with every paid Soundstripe subscription.

How does Soundstripe LIVE work?

Soundstripe LIVE runs alongside your editing software. As you cut your project, it reads what's on screen and recommends tracks from Soundstripe's catalog that fit the scene.


From there, you can:

  • Preview tracks directly in the Soundstripe LIVE window
  • Refine suggestions with a single click using thumbs up or thumbs down
  • Drag and drop any track straight into your timeline
  • Revisit past suggestions using the built-in history timeline, which saves every scene and recommendation from your session
  • Download tracks in MP3 or WAV format (files save to your Downloads folder by default (you can change this in the app's settings); your Soundstripe license covers all tracks you download)
Requirements
  • Operating system: macOS (Soundstripe LIVE is Mac-only; Windows support is not currently available — check the Soundstripe LIVE page for the latest platform availability)
  • Subscription: Any paid Soundstripe plan (LIVE is not available on free accounts  view pricing and upgrade options)
Getting Started
  1. Go to the Soundstripe LIVE download page and select Download for Mac. You can also reach Soundstripe LIVE anytime from the LIVE link in the top navigation bar or the footer of any Soundstripe page, whether you're signed in or just browsing.
  2. Open the downloaded file, then drag the Soundstripe LIVE app into your Applications folder to install it. If prompted, grant any requested system permissions so the app can read your screen.
  3. Open Soundstripe LIVE alongside your editor of choice (Premiere, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, etc.). Sign in with your Soundstripe account when prompted  recommendations won't appear until you're logged in.
  4. Start editing. Soundstripe LIVE will begin surfacing track suggestions as it reads your timeline.

    Tip: If Soundstripe LIVE isn't detecting your timeline, make sure your editing software is the active window and that you've granted screen recording permissions in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen Recording.

Licensing and the Music Catalog

Every track suggested through Soundstripe LIVE comes from Soundstripe's catalog of over 100,000 tracks, all created by real artists. The AI matches tracks to your scenes, but no music is AI-generated. Tracks are covered by Soundstripe's standard licensing, which includes digital, commercial, and broadcast use. Note: sync licensing for TV and film broadcast may require a separate license — check your plan details for specifics.
