What Happens When You Cancel?
  • Projects you created while subscribed keep their license (perpetual)
  • You can't create new licensed projects after canceling
  • You can't register new YouTube channels for monetization after canceling
  • If you didn't register your channels before canceling, you'll need to resubscribe to do so
  • Soundstripe may claim monetization on content it believes is unlicensed

YouTube Monetization Details

You need to register (List) your YouTube channels with Soundstripe to monetize content with licensed music. You can only register channels while you have an active subscription. If you cancel without registering, you'll need to resubscribe before you can.

Livestreaming

You can use Soundstripe music in livestreams, as long as the music isn't the focal point of the stream. Your plan's usual rules still apply. For example, Personal covers a personal, non-commercial livestream, and a livestream promoting a business or brand needs Pro or above.

  • Covered: background music under a talk, church service, gaming stream, webinar, or live Q&A
  • Not covered: streams where the music is the main event, like a DJ set, listening party, or live music performance

Note: Livestreaming on platforms like YouTube, Twitch, or Facebook Live isn't the same as the "streaming distribution (OTT)" listed under "What you can't do." OTT means streaming services like Hulu or Netflix.

Live concerts and public performances

Soundstripe music cannot be used in live concerts or public performances. This isn't covered by any plan or license, including Enterprise, single-use, and custom licenses, and there's no way to add it.

This includes:

  • Performing, playing, or remixing our tracks live in front of an audience
  • Using our stems or edited versions in a live set, concert, or show
  • Playing our music at live events like concerts, festivals, clubs, or theater productions

Soundstripe licenses cover music synced to media you create, like videos, podcasts, and ads. They don't cover live performance of any kind.

Tips & Tricks

  • "Personal" in subscriptions means non-commercial. If you're earning money from your content, you need Pro or above.
  • Business plans are company accounts with 3 seats, but distribution is limited to 1 market. If you need multiple markets, you need Enterprise.
  • On every plan, you can't resell or redistribute tracks as standalone audio, or claim the music as your own.
  • Register your YouTube channels as soon as you subscribe. Don't wait.
