What is the All Media license?
The All Media license is Soundstripe's broadest single-use license, covering traditional broadcast (TV and radio) and modern streaming distribution (OTT, CTV, and VOD). It includes unlimited versions and edits for one designated project.
Unlike the other licenses, All Media is term-based and territory-specific. The standard license is 3 months in 1 territory, and you can purchase it directly. If you need extended terms or additional territories, our team can help you find the right solution.
What distribution channels does All Media cover?
- Television broadcast: Content distributed via linear TV, including network television (ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX), cable channels (ESPN, CNN, HGTV), local broadcast affiliates, and public access. Covers TV commercials, episodic series, news segments, sports broadcasts, and infomercials delivered on a scheduled broadcast schedule via cable, satellite, or antenna.
- Radio (terrestrial or streaming): Content on traditional AM/FM broadcast stations, internet radio platforms (iHeartRadio, TuneIn), satellite radio (SiriusXM), and digital audio services that operate on a radio-style format. Covers radio commercials, show intros and outros, bumpers, and background music for broadcast segments.
- OTT (Over-the-Top): Content delivered via internet-based streaming platforms, bypassing traditional cable or broadcast infrastructure. This covers music in content distributed on platforms like Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, HBO Max, Peacock, Paramount+, Apple TV+, YouTube (ad-supported and premium), Tubi, and Pluto TV, as well as proprietary streaming apps. OTT content can be accessed on any internet-connected device.
- CTV (Connected TV): Content formatted for or distributed to internet-connected television devices. CTV is a subset of OTT that specifically refers to the TV screen environment. This is especially relevant for advertising, since CTV ad inventory is bought and sold separately from general digital or mobile OTT placements. CTV devices include smart TVs (Samsung, LG, Vizio), streaming players (Roku, Fire TV Stick, Apple TV, Chromecast), and gaming consoles used for streaming.
- VOD (Video on Demand): Content made available through any on-demand viewing platform, where viewers choose what to watch and when. VOD sub-categories include: SVOD (subscription-based, like Netflix or Disney+), AVOD (ad-supported free platforms, like Tubi or the free tier of Hulu), TVOD (transactional rent or buy, like Apple iTunes or Vudu), and Cable/Satellite VOD (on-demand libraries from providers like Xfinity or DirecTV).
How do OTT, CTV, and VOD relate to each other?
These 3 terms describe different dimensions of the same streaming ecosystem, and a single piece of content can qualify as all 3 at once.
- OTT describes the delivery method: content streamed over the internet.
- CTV describes the device: a TV connected to the internet.
- VOD describes the consumption model: viewer-selected, on-demand access.
Example: watching a movie on-demand (VOD) through Netflix (OTT) on a Roku TV (CTV) hits all 3 categories simultaneously. They're listed separately in the license because your content might only apply to one of them, like a CTV-specific ad campaign or content exclusive to a cable VOD platform.
How do terms and territories work?
The standard All Media license is 3 months in 1 territory and is available as a direct purchase. Extended term options are also available. If you need multi-territory or worldwide distribution, or have other specific requirements, reach out to our team and we'll help you find the perfect solution.

- If the same ad is running on digital platforms and broadcast TV, you'll need All Media for the TV placement, even if the digital portion would qualify under a lower license.
