What happens to my licenses if I cancel my subscription plan?

Learn what you can and can't do with your licensed music after your subscription ends.

What you'll learn here

  • What happens to your licenses after cancellation
  • What you can and can't do without an active subscription
  • Where and how licensed music can be used

What happens to your licensed projects

Any licensed project you created while your subscription was active remains fully licensed for that specific project — even after you cancel your subscription. That means:

  • Your existing videos, podcasts, and published projects stay covered permanently.
  • You do not lose rights to projects you already created or posted.

What you cannot do after your subscription ends

Once your subscription ends, you will no longer be able to:

  • Download new tracks from the Soundstripe library.
  • Generate new licenses for new projects.
  • Use previously downloaded music in new projects (that weren't licensed while you were active).

If you want to use Soundstripe music in new work after your subscription ends, you'll need to either:

  • Resubscribe, or
  • Purchase a single-use license for that music.

Important broadcasting note

If a project that contains licensed music is distributed on TV or other broadcast platforms, you may need to provide a cue sheet so performing rights organizations can pay the appropriate royalties.

If you have questions about how these terms apply to a specific project or situation, our support team is happy to help walk through your options and next steps.
