How do I know what coverage is right for my project?
Choose coverage based on who owns the project and where it will be distributed.
What you'll learn here
- How coverage works
- How to choose the right licensing tier
How coverage works
Your subscription gives you access to Soundstripe's music library. Your license defines how, where, and at what scale that music can be used once your project is published.
Choosing the right coverage depends on:
- Who owns the project
- Where the content will be distributed
- How broadly it will be distributed (single market vs. multiple markets or global)
Coverage options at a glance:
Personal use
For individual creators publishing non-commercial content.
- Personal, educational, or hobbyist projects
- Social media, personal websites, or school work
- No client, brand, or company ownership
Pro use
For individual professionals creating commercial content they personally own.
- Freelancers or solo creators
- Commercial digital ads, online campaigns, or broadcast content
- The creator retains ownership of the final project
Business use
For companies, agencies, or teams creating brand-owned or client-owned content within a single geographic market.
- Content owned by a company or client
- Includes warranties and indemnification
- Distribution is limited to one designated market area (DMA)
Please note: DMA is a defined geographic region, such as:
- Greater Los Angeles
- Greater New York
- Chicagoland
- Or a similar single regional market
If your project will be distributed in more than one market, region, or territory, Business coverage does not apply.
Enterprise or custom licensing
For companies, agencies, brands, and organizations distributing content across multiple markets, regions, or worldwide.
- Multi-market, national, or global distribution
- Broadcast, theatrical, or large-scale campaigns
- Distribution platforms, usage rights, and contract terms are tailored to your specific needs
- Designed to protect the organization, not just a single project or region
Enterprise coverage is required when distribution extends beyond a single DMA.
Important to know
If your project exceeds your plan's coverage — whether by ownership, geography, platform, or scale — you must secure the appropriate license before distribution.
Tips & tricks
- Your subscription gives you access to music
