Why Facebook may mute a video
If you're using properly licensed Soundstripe music, you are cleared to post your video on Facebook.
However, Facebook (and Meta platforms more broadly) use automated systems to detect copyrighted audio. These systems can occasionally flag or mute videos in error, even when the music is correctly licensed.
Unlike YouTube, Facebook does not currently support third-party music libraries clearing channels or videos in advance. As a result, disputes must be handled directly through Facebook's tools.
The good news: the vast majority of videos using Soundstripe music publish without issues, and muting errors are rare.
What to do if your video is muted
If Facebook mutes your video:
1. Submit a dispute directly through Facebook
Facebook requires creators to dispute muted videos within their platform.
2. Use your Proof of License
- Your Proof of License confirms your rights to use the music
- You can download it anytime from your Downloads page in your Soundstripe account
3. Wait for review
- In most cases, Facebook reviews and resolves disputes within minutes
- Some reviews may take longer, depending on their internal process
