What happens to my licenses if I cancel my Soundstripe subscription?
Your existing projects stay licensed permanently. Here's what changes when your subscription ends.
What you'll learn here
- Whether your existing projects stay licensed after cancellation
- What you can and can't do once your subscription ends
- How to use Soundstripe music again after canceling
Do I lose my licenses when I cancel?
No. Any project you created and licensed while your subscription was active remains fully licensed, permanently. Canceling your subscription does not affect projects you've already completed.
Here's what stays covered:
- Your existing videos, podcasts, and published projects stay licensed forever.
- You do not lose rights to any project you posted while your subscription was active.
- If a platform flags one of those projects with a copyright claim down the road, your Proof of License is still valid.
What changes after your subscription ends?
Once your subscription ends, you will no longer be able to:
- Download new tracks from the Soundstripe library.
- Generate new licenses for new projects.
- Use previously downloaded music in new projects that weren't licensed while your subscription was active.
The key distinction is between existing projects and new projects. Any project you already released while a member is covered. New projects created after cancellation are not.
Can I still access my Proof of License after canceling?
If you haven’t requested to have your account data cleared, you’ll still be able to log in and access your Proof of License documents after cancellation. However, we recommend downloading your Proof of License for all active projects before you cancel, as this is the easiest way to make sure you have everything you need.
What if I want to use Soundstripe music again later?
If you want to use Soundstripe music in new projects after your subscription has ended, you have two options:
- Resubscribe to pick up where you left off with full catalog access, including any new tracks added since you left.
- Purchase a single-use license for a specific track and project.
Tips and tricks
- Download your Proof of License documents for all active projects before canceling, even though they remain accessible. It's the easiest way to keep your records organized.
- If you have projects in progress, finish and publish them before your subscription ends so they're fully covered.
- Resubscribing restores full catalog access immediately with no penalty.
